A combination of results, and the Dynamo win, allowed Houston to qualify to the playoffs, where they will face the Montreal Impact.
Seeded on #4, the Houston Dynamo will have to play on Thursday night, 10/31/2013 at 7:00 pm, against the Impact in a single elimination game. This time the points, goals and position on the table doesn't matter, the team who wins after the 90 minutes will pack it's bag and fly to NY to face the Red Bulls. If the score remains a tie, after the 90 minutes, then it will go to overtime and penalties.
This would be the 7th time, in 8 years, that the Houston Dynamo qualifies to the MLS Playoffs. The Dynamo won back-to-back Championships in 06 and 07 and lost the MLS Cup in 2011 and 2012, these last two against the LA Galaxy.
Montreal and Houston played three times during the regular season and the Canadians managed to win 2 games at home, 2-0 and 5-0, while the Dynamo defeated them in Houston, 1-0. The last game was played in Houston, 10/4/2013, and both teams presented their starting XI. Montreal comes from a loss against Toronto FC, while the Dynamo defeated DC United with goals from Boniek Garcia and Giles Barnes.
Tickets are now on sale at www.houstondynamo.com, for what seems to be one of the most emotional games ever played at BBVA Compass Stadium. The stadium will be covered in orange shirts with fans supporting 90+ min, all of them hoping that they can pack their bags and fly to New York.
